Foundation for Information Technology (FITA) wishes to expand its ICT training services

The Foundation for Information Technology (FITA) wishes to expand its ICT training services and is looking for qualified teachers who can teach ECDL Part A and Part B and  ECDL Advance.

 These FITA ICT training courses will address the needs of persons with mild intellectual disability. 

Lessons between October 2017 and May 2018 shall be held once a week, after 5pm and be of two hours duration inclusive of a five minute break.

 The following accommodation will be provided for:

 ·         The lessons will allow for a relative or friend to accompany the student and use the same computer.   

·         Training materials will be provided in electronic format.

We always welcome volunteers, but these classes are also provided in conjunction with the Directorate for Lifelong Learning and the relevant terms and working conditions are applicable.

Tliet studenti mill-MCAST se jieħdu sehem fl-Olimpjadi Internazzjonali tar-Robotika li se jsiru f’Washington DC, l-Istati Uniti.

Patrick Brejza, Andrea Abela u Clive Tonna jinsabu fit-tieni sena tagħhom isegwu studji fl-ICT, se jirrappreżentaw lil Malta b’robot li ħadmu fuqu għal dawn l-aħħar ġimgħat.

Ir-robot li bnew se jkun qed iqajjem kuxjenza dwar l-importanza li kull nazzjon ikollu aċċess għall-ilma nadif, it-tema ewlenija għal dawn l-Olimpjadi.

Dan se jagħmlu billi jissepara blalen ta’ kuluri differenti, ġest li jissimbolizza l-iffiltrar tal-ilma.

L-istqarrija maħruġa mis-Segretarjat Parlamentari għall-Innovazzjoni tgħid li tul il-ħidma tagħhom, l-istudenti nnutaw li fi spirtu t’għaqda, l-istudenti kollha li se jieħdu sehem għandhom jirrealizzaw l-importanza għal iżjed kooperazzjoni fuq livell internazzjonali biex tinstab soluzzjoni għall-kriżi globali tal-ilma.

PTL Limited – Junior Technical Support Engineer Vacancy

PTL Limited is seeking a Junior Technical Support Engineer to maintain mission-critical systems and coordinate on-boarding of the various international clients using these systems.

The chosen candidate will join the Database & Middleware Services team that is responsible for the implementation and on-going support of these systems from a business, middleware and database perspective. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform system and application software upgrades within the established change management policies.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability 

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning 

  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting 

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure 


  • Liaise with suppliers and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Liase with clients for on-boarding, testing and on-going support
  • Participate in the 24/7 oncall rotation

Requirements

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • A good working knowledge of Linux, Unix, AIX or similar *nix-based operating systems. Industry certifications in any of these will be considered an asset.
  • A working knowledge in the management and support of any of the mainstream relational database management systems will be considered an asset.
  • A working knowledge in any of the mainstream Java-based Application servers
  • Good English communications skills.
  • Capability to carry out site visits (in Malta) within timeframes dictated by SLA’s.
  • Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, systems management and diagnostic tools
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

PTL Malta is looking for a Network Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support the network infrastructures of our growing customer base.

The chosen candidate will be part of the systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VOIP, VPN, QoS)
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability 

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning 

  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues 

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure 

  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team 

  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution 


Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum three years’ hands-on network engineering experience and an IT degree or equivalent. Candidates should possess CCNA or higher (CCNP highly valued), a deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) and of the OSI or TCP/IP model. Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools, a willingness to join a 24/7 on-call rotation, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of team of IT professionals is critical.
